Where fromAt Coot-tha MTB, we would really feel empowered if we could help more women of all ages to get on their mountain bikes. Boys and men are, once more, over-represented in this discipline, and we can only make assumptions why this is the case. Women of all ages are focussed on thriving in all aspects of their lives and lead busy lifestyles. Long studying and office hours sitting at a desk, and too many family chores may lead to low fitness and stamina, as well as chronic pains (lower back, knees). You may think that mountain biking will be a physically exhausting sport after an exhausting day, an extra burden, when there is only time for a casual ride once every while. You may also think that a mountain bike may be too expensive or not worth the investment for a casual rider. Some women may not recognize themselves in the competitive mindset, of what seems a scary and dangerous discipline. At Coot-tha MTB, we can only assume the reasons, yet, for sure, we want to help more women into the discipline. For this reason, we are building an MTB skills program tailored for women, around things that matter to women such as mental and physical wellness, mind-fullness and social interactions, and not just about “rad” skills or track “shredding” at neck-breaking pace (though that is also available). Please, get in touch and join us on this exciting journey…

Coot-tha Sistas
The goal of this group is to create an environment where you can feel 100% comfortable with your riding. Arrange rides with you friends, organise coaching sessions, even trips to remote trail parks such as Derby. Learn to ride at a regular, sustained, safe, and controlled pace, without having to put your foot down when coming across an obstacle (teepee, drop off, rock bed, pinch climb, small jumps including small kickers). This group is focussed on a better understanding of how physical power and skills work together, looking at balance and weight transfer, stance on bike, braking and cornering techniques and above all mental approaches. This program is not about competitive riding, or extravagant freeride techniques. It is instead about using a sustained efficient ride as a relaxation method and a good body and mind therapy. Below, to name a few, is a list of some of the concepts about which we hope you will learn: The “hip engine” and the bike, the rest of the body, gym cross-training, the skills and the mental, how to read the trail and use it to practice…
